Why Bamboo Venetian Blinds Are the Smart, Sustainable Choice for Modern Homes

Introducing Our New Bamboo Venetian Blinds

Crafted with care. Made for real homes. Built to last.

A Fresh Take on a Classic Favourite

Wooden Venetians have always been loved for their natural warmth but we knew they could be even better.

That’s why we’ve introduced Bamboo Venetian Blinds: same timeless style, made from a material that’s lighter, stronger, and far more sustainable.

Why Choose Bamboo?

1. It’s Sustainable and It Shows

Bamboo isn’t wood it’s a fast-growing grass. That means:

  • It regrows naturally without replanting.
  • It matures in just a few years (not decades).
  • It’s one of the most renewable materials we’ve ever worked with.

We searched long and hard for the right supplier, one that met our standards for sustainability and durability. Once we found them, it felt right. And we think you’ll feel that too.

2. Lighter to Lift. Easier to Live With.

Let’s be honest traditional wooden blinds can be heavy, especially on wide windows and patio doors.

Our bamboo slats are significantly lighter, which means:

  • They’re easier to lift and operate daily.
  • You don’t need to worry about straining cords or fittings.
  • They still offer the strength and stability you expect.

It’s one of those everyday details that makes a big difference and the kind of thing we test over and over until it’s just right.

As shown in the picture above the most common issues we see with wood and fauxwood venetian blinds are due to the weight of the blinds. The picture above was taken in a home we were asked to visit to look an 18 month old fauxwood venetian blind fitted by another blind company.

There are 2 issues with this installation firstly using the wrong brackets. The brackets used are end fix brackets which as the name suggests are fitted on the very end of the blind. End fix brackets are used because they are supplied with every venetian blind sold. The second issue was the weight of the blind. It was 2200mm wide x 1875mm deep which is big and heavy.

The end fix brackets and the weight of the blind has caused the headrail to fail. Our recommendation was to use multi fix brackets that can fit anywhere along the blind (so right next to the cord so there is no flex when lifted) and bamboo because it is 50% lighter than fauxwood and 40% lighter than wood.

3. Naturally Unique

Every slat of bamboo has its own story subtle shifts in tone, grain, and weave. No two are ever identical.

We finish each blind by hand to:

  • Align the colour beautifully
  • Ensure smooth operation
  • Bring out the natural texture of the bamboo

You’re not just getting a product. You’re getting something crafted, not just made.

4. Made to Measure for Real Homes

We don’t do off-the-shelf. Every Bamboo Venetian is:

  • Made to your exact measurements
  • Fitted with our exclusive MultiFix brackets (stronger than standard fittings)
  • Built to work and last in the room you actually live in

They’re perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, home offices… anywhere you want a natural, easy-to-use blind that feels as good as it looks.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bamboo Venetian Blinds

Q: Are bamboo Venetian blinds real wood?

A: Not quite. Bamboo is a fast-growing grass but don’t let that fool you. It offers the same natural look and warmth as wood, with added benefits like lighter weight and better sustainability.

Q: Are bamboo blinds durable?

A: Yes. Bamboo is naturally strong and flexible, making it a great material for blinds. When properly finished and fitted (like ours), they can last for years without warping or sagging.

Q: Can I use bamboo blinds in a bathroom or kitchen?

A: Bamboo handles moisture better than hardwood, but not as well as faux wood. For humid rooms, we’ll guide you to the best option based on your space bamboo may still work, depending on ventilation and window placement.

Q: Do bamboo blinds let in a lot of light?

A: Bamboo Venetian blinds offer excellent light control. You can tilt the slats to let light in while maintaining privacy just like traditional wood Venetians.

Q: Are bamboo blinds good for large windows?

A: Absolutely. In fact, bamboo is ideal for wide windows because it’s lighter than wood, making it easier to lift and operate — even in bigger sizes.

Q: Can I get bamboo blinds made to my exact size?

A: Yes. Every bamboo blind we install is made to measure. That means a better fit, smoother operation, and a cleaner look.

Q: How sustainable are bamboo blinds really?

A: Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials on earth. It regrows naturally, doesn’t need replanting, and matures quickly making it an eco-friendly alternative to hardwood.
