Inviting Someone Into Your Home Should Never Feel Like a Gamble

Buying made-to-measure blinds isn't like ordering something online.

You're inviting someone into your home to measure your windows, offer advice and later return to install your blinds. It's completely natural to want to know who you're letting through your front door.

At Barlow Blinds, we believe trust should never be assumed. It should be earned.

That's why we've built our business around transparency, professionalism and respect for our customers from the moment you first contact us until long after your blinds have been installed.

Before Your Appointment

One of the questions we're often asked is:

"How do I know who's coming to my home?"

The day before every measuring appointment we'll give you a call to confirm:

  • who will be visiting your home
  • your appointment date
  • a one-hour arrival window so you know when to expect us

No wondering whether someone will turn up. No waiting around all day.

When We Arrive

Every member of our surveying and installation team is employed directly by Barlow Blinds.

We don't send unknown subcontractors to customers' homes.

Our team members:

  • are DBS checked
  • wear full Barlow Blinds branded clothing
  • carry BBSA identification badges displaying their name and photograph
  • always wear protective shoe covers inside your home

Small details like shoe covers might seem insignificant, but they're part of showing respect for your home from the moment we walk through the door.

No Pressure. Ever.

Many homeowners worry that a home appointment is really a sales appointment.

We understand why.

That's why we've never paid commission to our surveyors or installers and we never will.

There are no sales targets.

No pressure to place an order during your visit.

No uncomfortable sales tactics.

Our job is simply to help you make the right decision, even if that decision isn't made on the day.

What Happens During a Measuring Appointment?

Most appointments take around 30 minutes.

For larger homes or more complex projects, we allow up to two hours to make sure everything is measured correctly and all your questions are answered.

We'll:

  • discuss your requirements
  • measure each window carefully
  • explain suitable products
  • answer any questions honestly
  • provide advice without pressure

Many customers tell us afterwards that the appointment was far more relaxed than they expected.

Trusted Industry Standards

We're proud members of the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) who are the Authority on UK Shading.

For you, that means we're part of the recognised trade body for the blinds and shutters industry and work to recognised professional standards.

We're also a Which? Trusted Trader.

Both organisations independently assess businesses before allowing membership, giving you additional confidence that you're choosing a company committed to quality and customer service.

Secure Payments

Protecting your financial information is just as important as protecting your home.

We use secure payment systems for card payments.

Your payment details are processed securely through trusted third-party payment providers.

We do not store your card details.

Website Security

Our website uses encrypted HTTPS technology to help keep information secure while it's sent between your browser and our website.

Whenever you see the padlock icon in your browser, you know you're using a secure connection.

How We Use Your Information

We only collect the information we genuinely need to provide our service.

This may include:

  • your name
  • address
  • telephone number
  • email address
  • appointment details
  • window measurements
  • product selections
  • order history

We use this information to prepare quotations, manufacture your blinds, arrange installation and provide aftercare whenever you need us.

We Never Sell Your Information

Your personal information belongs to you.

We never sell customer data.

We never share your details for unrelated marketing.

If information is shared with trusted manufacturers or suppliers, it is only because it's needed to complete your order.

Why We Keep Customer Records

Some companies delete everything once the job is finished.

We don't.

If you contact us years later needing a replacement blind, spare part, repair or warranty support, our records help us quickly identify:

  • your original order
  • measurements
  • fabrics
  • components
  • operating systems

It means we can help you much faster.

Still Have Questions?

If you're unsure about anything before your appointment, simply ask.

Whether it's who'll be visiting, how payments work, what happens during your survey or how we handle your information, we'd much rather answer your questions than leave you uncertain.

After all, when someone is inviting us into their home, trust isn't optional.

It's everything.
